What our parents say

“My son has been at the club since the beginning of his U7s season and his progress has been amazing. The club is supportive, the training facilities are brilliant and his current u8s team is made up of kids he now considers close friends.”

— Sarah Shepherd (Child, Oliver, U8s)

“Football with his Saddleworth 3Ds team is the absolute highlight of my son’s week. He’s progressed in terms of football but also his self esteem. He’s made loads of friends at the club and he wouldn’t want to play anywhere else.”

Tracey Fielding (Child, Frankie, U11s)

“Both my children play for the Saddleworth 3Ds and they both love their football and get on really well with their teammates and coaches. It’s a brilliant grassroots club with an amazing environment and atmosphere for the kids.”

FAQs

How old does my child have to be to join a football team?

The East Manchester Junior Football league starts at under 7s. Under 7s junior football teams are made up of children in school year 2. So for our teams, your child would need to be in school year 2 or older.

However, we also have our academy for children aged 4 to 7 looking to develop their skills and confidence in the game. We have an academy for those aged 8 to 11 who want to further training even if they don’t want to play on a team too.

When and where do you train?

Our teams typically train weekly. We train at a number of venues across Saddleworth and Tameside including Saddleworth School and St Damian’s RC Science College. Each team has an allocated training time and venue and you’ll be advised of this by the coach of the specific team.

How often do our junior teams play matches?

Throughout the season, matches in the East Manchester Junior Football league are typically weekly on a Saturday or Sunday depending on the age level.

How much football experience does my child need to join?

We have a number of teams playing at various ability levels across a number of age groups. So it very much depends! Across our younger age groups, it’s often possible to accommodate new players with no previous match playing experience. Contact us by emailing saddleworth3ds@btinternet.com to tell us about about the age and experience of your child and we’ll be able to advise on current available places within our teams.

How does my join one of your junior teams?

In the first instance, email saddleworth3ds@btinternet.com with the name, age, school year and any previous playing or training experience your child has. We’ll then come back to you with further information about available places in teams at the club. If we’re able to accommodate you, we’ll put you directly in touch with the coach of the specific team. From there, the coach will invite you along to a training session or two. This is your opportunity to meet the coach, for your child to meet his or her prospective teammates and for you both to get a feel for the club and the team. If you, your child and the coach is happy, the coach will then provide you with signing on forms and requests for the further information we’ll need from you.
